HEALTH INSURANCE
Group medical and dental coverage is provided for regular full-time employees on the first of the month following 60 days of continuous employment. The City pays the employee's portion of the insurance premium.  Employees have the option of adding family members at their own expense through payroll deduction.

LIFE INSURANCE
A City-paid life insurance policy in the amount of $10,000 is provided to all regular full-time employees effective on the first of the month following 60 days of continuous employment.

LONG-TERM DISABILITY
A City-paid long-term disability policy is provided to all regular full-time employees effective on the first day of the month following 90 days of continuous employment.  The benefit pays the employee 60% of his/her gross monthly salary and commences after the employee has been unable to work for 90 days due to injury or illness.

RETIREMENT
The City participates in the Texas Municipal Retirement System (TMRS).  Membership in the retirement program is mandatory effective at time of hire for all employees in positions scheduled to work at least 1,000 hours in a year.  Each eligible employee contributes 5% per pay period.  The City matches the employee's contribution at a rate of 1.5 to 1.  Vesting (eligibility to receive City matching funds at retirement) is reached after five (5) years. Credit toward vesting and retirement eligibility is available for an employee's active duty military service or previous employment with a qualifying agency.

EDUCATIONAL ASSISTANCE
The City will provide educational assistance for courses of study which are directly related to the employee's present job or which will enhance the employee's potential for advancement to a position within the City.

LONGEVITY PAY
The City recognizes an employee's length of service by offering longevity pay, a benefit that builds in $4 monthly increments for each year of service, upon completion of an eligibility period corresponding with the City's fiscal year.
